Dr. Sajjad Ahmad is currently working as Director General Geological Survey of Pakistan. He has vast expertise in the field of Earth Sciences including Structural Geology, Remote Sensing, Seismic Interpretation and Mineral Exploration. He served the Department of Geology, University of Peshawar as Professor and Chairman for a period of 27 years.
Dr. Sajjad Ahmad has a number of national and international publications to his credit. He has convened and participated in several seminars, workshops and conferences both in Pakistan and abroad.
In addition, Dr. Sajjad Ahmad has also provided consulting services to the Oil and Gas sector of Pakistan in the field of Geological Mapping, Structural Modelling and Prospect Identification, covering most of the parts of the fold and thrust belts of Pakistani Himalaya.

Prof. Dr. Muhammad Asif Khan

Professor Asif Khan is HEC Distinguished National Professor for Earth Sciences affiliated with the National Centre of Excellence in Geology, University of Peshawar.
He has a wide array of interests in geosciences ranging from mountainbuilding processes to geological hazards in the context of the Karakoram-Hindu Kush-Himalaya Ranges of N. Pakistan. He is a Fellow of the Pakistan Academy of Sciences, Foreign Fellow of Chinese Academy of Sciences and Honorary Fellow of the Geological Society, London.

Prof.Dr. Qasim Jan

Dr. M. Qasim Jan is an Adviser in OIC Standing Committee on Scientific & Technological Cooperation (COMSTECH), Islamabad and Professor Emeritus, Center of Excellence in Geology, University of Peshawar. Previously, he held a number of eminent positions in various education institutions like the Vice Chancellor, Quaid-i-Azam University, Islamabad, Sarhad University, Peshawar and University of Peshawar. He received his Master’s degree from the University of Oregon, USA and obtained his Ph.D degree from the University of London, UK.

Dr. Qasim has remarkable research contributions in,

  • A better understanding of the geodynamic evolution of northwest Himalaya-Kohistan-Karakoram-Hindukush
  • Petrologic and tectonic evolution of the lower and middle continental crust in general and Kohistan magmatic arc in particular, with special emphasis on the Kamila amphibolites, and Chilas, Jijal and Sapat mafic-ultramafic complexes
  • Chemical mineralogy of chromite occurrences of Pakistan
  • Tectonic configuration of gemstones of northern Pakistan
  • Recent investigation related to neotectonics and earthquakes in northern Pakistan and Balochistan
  • Petrology of the Creto-Tertiary Raskoh and Chagai magmatic arcs
  • Realization that the Proterozoic, A-type granitoids of Nagar Parkar are emplaced in a calc-alkaline island arc foundation and were followed by bimodal mafic-silicic magmatism,

He is an author of 278 papers and short communications published locally and internationally. He is the joint author of the seminal book “Geology and Tectonics of Pakistan” (with AH Kazmi, 1997), which won the Best Book award in Natural Sciences(1995–97 period) from National Book Foundation of Pakistan.
In recognition of his services, he has been honored with Pakistan Civilian Awards Hilal-i-Imtiaz (2010), Sitara-i-Imtiaz (1999), Tamgha-i-Imtiaz (1994) and President medal for Excellence in Teaching, Izaz-i-Fazeelat (1993).

Shuhab Khan is a professor of geology at the University of Houston. He is the co-Editor-in-Chief of Earth-Science Reviews and Fellow of the Geological Society of America. His recent research interests include geospatial tools and their applications, primarily in earth surface processes.

Dr. Rafique Ahmed Lashari Join University of Sindh on August 2003. Later on became Assistant Professor in 2012 and presently working as Associate Professor and Director in Center for Pure and Applied Geology. Member Syndicate, University of Sindh, Jamshoro

Did M.Sc. in 2002, Ph. D. from Sindh University and Post Doc on Impact of Cretaceous/Paleogene (leç Pg) crisis and the PaleoceneEocene Thermal Maximum (PETM) on the evolution of biodiversity (postcrisis recovery and diversification) of coastal and terrestrial ecosystem of the Ranikot Group (Sindh, Pakistan) from Museum National D’Histoire Naturelle, Paris France. (2014).

Area of Interest: Carbonate Sedimentology, Biostratigraphy and Microfacies Analysis.

Prof. Dr Hafiz Ur Rehman

Dr. Hafiz U. Rehman currently works as Associate Professor at the Department of Earth Sciences, Graduate School of Science and Engineering, Kagoshima University, Japan.
Hafiz does research in Mineralogy, Petrology, Geochemistry, and Geochronology. Main research interests are in High Pressure metamorphic rocks, particularly in the Himalayan region. Hafiz is a regular member of several national and international scientific societies related to Earth Sciences (including MSA, JPGU, JGS, JAMS) and executive committee member of the International Eclogite Conference.
He published more than 50 scientific articles including review papers) in International Impact Factor journals, and presented research results (including invited talks) in numerous National and International conferences. He has also served as Guest editor of Lithos, Journal of Asian Earth Sciences, and The Island Arc.
He is an active reviewer for various international journals (Geology, Gondwana Research, Journal of Metamorphic Geology, Journal of Asian Earth Sciences, Lithos, Island Arc, Journal of Mineralogical and Petrological Sciences, Minerals, Mineralogy Petrology, and so on).

Dr. Rehanul Haq Siddiqui

Dr. Rehanul Haq Siddiqui is currently working as Chairman, Board of Directors, Sandak Metals Ltd., under the Ministry of Energy (Petroleum Division) Government of Pakistan. Previously worked as Director Geological Survey of Pakistan and served as Professor in the Balochistan University of Information Technology, Engineering and Management Sciences, Quetta. He has also worked as visiting Professor in the China University of Geosciences at Wuhan. Currently he is affiliated as visiting Professor with the University of Balochistan at Quetta.
Dr Siddiqui has remained actively involved in the geological and hydrothermal alteration zone mapping, mineral exploration of porphyry copper, molybdenum, gold and tungsten mineralization in the Chagai magmatic arc. Worked on chromite, maghemite, magnesite and manganese deposits in Muslim Bagh and Khanozai areas and sedimentary iron ore deposits in Dilband area. Published several research papers in various National and International Journals and presented many scientific papers in various national and international seminars, conferences and symposia. Organized and conducted many in house and National level training workshops at GARL, Islamabad and University of Balochistan, Quetta.

Prof. Dr. Tahseen Ullah Khan

Dr. Tahseenullah Khan did his PhD in 1994 from NCE in Geology, University of Peshawar. He is Senior Professor in the Department of Earth and Environment Sciences, Bahria University, Islamabad. He has been Professor in Naruto University of Education; Honorary Professor in China Geological Survey, Xian Centre, China; Assistant Project Manager, Gemstone Corporation of Pakistan and Voluntary retired Deputy Director, Geological Survey of Pakistan.
Dr. Khan remained as Post-graduate program coordinator and Head of Department of Earth and Environmental Sciences, Bahria University, Islamabad campus. Due to his excellent research record, Government of Japan entrusted upon him Japan Society for the Promotion of Science (JSPS) fellowship award. He is the member of Board of Governors of National Centre of Excellence in Geology, University of Peshawar; Member of the Northwestern Geology Editorial Committee, China Geological Survey, Xi’an Centre China; Associate Editor of International Journal of Economic and Environmental Geology; Former Editor of Geologica, a research bulletin of Geoscience Advance Research Laboratory, Islamabad; Former member of the Resource Geology Journal of Japan; Member of the Expert Panel of Pakistan Science Foundation for evaluation of national and international funded projects; Ex-focal person on the 2005 Kashmir Earthquake on behalf of Geological Survey of Pakistan and Senior Vice President and Joint secretary of National Geological Society of Pakistan.
As a Senior Vice President of National Geological Society of Pakistan, Dr. Khan organized many seminars, conferences, workshops and trainings including the 4th and 5th Geological Congress of Pakistan and First International Workshop on Geoinformatics and workshop on Geological Materials and Aggregates of Pakistan. He worked as a Team Member of the Technical Committee for the International Conference on 8th October 2005 Earthquake, organized by Geological Survey of Pakistan at Islamabad edited the extended abstract volume for the conference.
Dr. Khan has published more than 160 research papers in national and international journals and extended abstracts, proceedings, in-house journals and international reports with total impact factor 67.391 and 710 citations. He published a book “Gems and Gemmology in Pakistan in 2010” as a lead author, Special Publication of the Geological Survey of Pakistan. He has participated in 14 international conferences/workshops in Europe, Asia and North Africa.
Dr. Khan has supervised 40 post-graduate students, co-supervised two PhD scholars and currently supervising six PhD scholars including one foreigner.

Prof. Dr. Mumtaz Shah

Dr. Mumtaz Shah is working as Professor, Department of Earth Sciences, Quaid-i-Azam University, Islamabad (Pakistan). He is actively involved in diverse field of geoscience research, which include; carbonate/clastic sedimentology, diagenesis and reservoir characterization. He has been engaged in various national and international projects. He is actively engaged with E&P industry to organize professional training courses and workshops on regular basis. In addition, he has supervised more than 25 post-graduate (M.Phil. and PhD) research students. He is active member of International Association of Sedimentologists (IAS) and Society of Economic Geoscientists (SEPM).

Ms. Naghmah Haider is presently working as Director at Geoscience Advance Research Laboratories, Geological Survey of Pakistan Islamabad.
She masters in Geology, working in Geological Survey of Pakistan. She has working experience on WD-XRF, ED-XRD, ICPMS, AAS, XRD, DTA-TG, SEM with EDS & CL, Petrography and Gems Identification, Also working on ARC GIS and ERDAS imagine software for GIS based maps. She got training on Remote Sensing & GIS from Turkish, Japanese and Germans experts. She has over 33 national and international publications to her credit.

Dr. Shahid Iqbal

Dr. Shahid Iqbal is presently working as assistant professor in the Department of Earth Sciences, Quaid-iAzam University (QAU), Islamabad, Pakistan.
He did his PhD and Post-Doc from the Department of Geology, University of Vienna, Austria. He did his BS and M.Sc. in Geology from the Department of Geology, University of Peshawar, Pakistan, and M.Phil. (Geology) from the Department of Earth Sciences QAU. He has worked as visiting guest lecturer at the Department of Geology, University of Vienna. He is interested in the studying Paleo-climates and Paleo-environments and has worked on the sedimentology and paleo-climatic fluctuations during the Permian to Jurassic time on the NW passive Tethyan margin of the Indian Plate.
He is specialized in using framework composition analysis, sediments geochemistry, bulk mineralogical composition using XRD, clay mineralogy, heavy minerals analysis. Additionally, he works on seismic reflection data and its use in basin modelling and tectonic reconstructions. Currently, he is working on the Triassic-Jurassic transition focusing mainly on the paleo-climatic fluctuations and sedimentation style. He is also working on the sedimentation and paleo-climatic fluctuations during the Pleistocene-Holocene glaciation-de-glaciation and the emerging subject of the Anthropocene.

Dr Asghar Khan

DR. ASGHAR ALI

I am an Associate Professor and HEC-recognized PhD supervisor in the Department of Geology at the University of Peshawar. Additionally, I hold the position of Director of the Centralized Resource Laboratory at the University of Peshawar.

My research interests include ore geochemistry, structural geology (micro- to macro-scale structures associated with cyclic orogenic events), petrology, geochronology, thermodynamics, and regional/global tectonics. I am focused on establishing strong connections between structural geology, regional/global tectonics, metamorphic geology, and thermodynamics.

I am particularly interested in utilizing structures to comprehend the complex history of multiply deformed rocks.

Dr. Gohar Rehman

Dr. Gohar Rehman specializes in Structural Geology and Tectonics. He has published more then 20 peer reviewed articles covering all the fold and thrust belts of Pakistan. He is currently working on the western tectonics of Pakistan in the North Waziristan and Kurram districts using tectonostratigraphic signatures in the rocks. He is expert in sub-surface structural modelling and cross section balancing.
He is serving as an Assistant Professor of Structural Geology in the Department of Geology, University of Peshawar for the last 12 Years. He has supervised many MS research scholars covering wide range of Structural and Tectonic related problems.

Dr. Sajjad Khan

Dr. Sajjad Khan is presently working as Deputy Director at Geoscience Advance Research Laboratories, Geological Survey of Pakistan Islamabad. He received his PhD degree from Department of Earth Sciences Quaid-i-Azam (QAU) University Islamabad, in 2020. He previously worked as Research Associate at National Centre of Excellence in Geology, University of Peshawar. He has working experience on XRD and got training from Netherlands. He has also worked as Geologist in Mineral Centre Lahore.
Dr. Sajjad Khan is actively involved in Geochemistry, Mineralogy, Carbonate Sedimentology, Carbonate Reservoir Characterization, Biostratigraphy and Sequence Stratigraphy related assignments. Moreover, he is the author of numerous articles published in various national and international journals.

Research interests and experiences

I am interested in understanding the controlling factors on the petroleum reservoir quality including the depositional and diagenetic processes. I also work on the characterization of carbonate rocks sedimentology and geochemistry using various analytical techniques including optical and SEM microscopy, XRD mineralogy, whole rock geochemistry and facies analysis as tools in research. Routine petrophysical analyses are applied in reservoir quality assessment.

Dr Xiuman Hu

Dr. Xiumian Hu

Dr. Xiumian Hu born in 1974 is a distinguished professor from School of Earth Sciences and Engineering, Nanjing University. He graduated from Chengdu University of Technology in 2002 with Ph.D degree in Geology. His research interests encompass a wide variety of scientifical problems related to sedimentary basins and tectonics in Alpine-Himalayan orogen, Mesozoic-Palaeogene paleoclimatology and palaeoceanography, Source-to-Sink of river sands, and geological data-driven discovery. He is/was the IGCP739 and IGCP434 leader and the IGCP609 co-leader.
Dr. Xiumian Hu is serviced as Associate Editor for the journal: Sedimentology, Arabian Journal of Geosciences, Science China: Earth Sciences. Up to now, Dr. Hu published over 180 scientific papers in peer-review journals with total Google citation over 4600 times.

Dr. Erum Bashir

I did Ph.D. in 2009 in the field of Geology from University of Karachi. After completion of my education, I started teaching and research in the department. I have more than 22 years of postgraduate and undergraduate teaching experience.
Currently, I am working as Professor and Chairperson. I also served as examiner and paper setter at graduate level students and also for Sindh Public Service Commission. Member of various statuary/learned bodies like PAPG, SEGMITE, KUGGA, Soil Science Society, ISAC, Dean Research Grant Committee, Academic council, Senate, University of Karachi.
I myself an active researcher and completed a number of research projects. I also supervise research activities of Ph.D., M.Phil. and graduate students. I have published various articles and chapter in journals of national and international repute.  I also served as referee/reviewer in a number of national and international journals. I organized and participated in several national and international conferences, workshops and seminars.

I have been working as Sr. Chemist BPS-18 at Geoscience Advance Research Laboratories, Geological Survey of Pakistan since 2018. I have done my M-Phil in Chemistry under the supervision of Prof. Dr. Zaman Ashraf with the topic: “Synthesis of nanocarriers for drug delivery tools at a specific location in body with drug release control”.
I have published many articles in different impact factor Journals on Groundwater characterization and their impact on health, the impact of geological hazards on the groundwater, and Statistical interpretation of the data. Using modern instruments and classical methodology for analyzing and researching the groundwater, Soil, and Geological samples. 
I have experience in data interpretation and applications in different fields.

Prof. Dr. Anna Trave

PhD in 1992 on Sedimentology of carbonate rocks. Post-doctoral research in Montpellier University (France) working on fluid flow and faults.Teaching at Barcelona University from 2000. My current research interest is in fluid flow during compressive and extensive deformation. For compressive settings, I am mostly dealing with the Pyrenean fold and thrust belt but other orogens are also studied. For the extensive settings I am mostly dealing with the Neogene Penedès and Vallès haf-graben in the Northeastern part of the Iberian Peninsula. I also work on fracture-related dolomitization together with other diagenetic processes affecting carbonate rocks.

Alessandro Iannace

Dr. Alessandro Iannace

He is professor of Sedimentary Geology at Federico II University in Napoli, Italy. After a Master at Paris VI University on Plio-Pleistocene isotope stratigraphy, he got his  PhD at Napoli University. His main research focus has been the sedimentology and diagenesis of shallow water carbonates, including their relationships with base metal mineralization and reservoir characterization.
The main goals of these researches have been the development of a paleoenvironmental model for the microbial biocontructions of Upper Triassic of Italy, the distinction of many dolomitization models in the Mesozoic carbonates of southern Italy, the characterization of epigenetic hydrothermal dolomitization in metamorhpsed carbonates od SW Sardinia.
More recently, in the frame of industry collaboration, developed models of mechanical stratigraphy as a tool for HC production in Southern Italy and revised the stratigraphy and structural geology of Lurestan, Iran, and western Greece. 

Dr. Jahanzeb Khan

I am working as Assistant Professor/HEC recognized PhD supervisor at the Institute of Geology, UAJ&K Muzaffarabad since March 2016.
I have done my PhD in Tectonics/Geochronology from TU-Bergakadmie Freiberg, Germany under the Supervision of Prof. Dr. Lothar Ratschbacher with PhD topic: “Cenozoic exhumation history of Pamir and Tian Shan at the northwestern tip of the India-Asia collision: Timing”.
I am teaching and supervising the BS, MS and PhD students. I have published many articles in different impact factor Journals e.g. GSA, Tectonics, Geological Society of America Bulletin, Gondwana Research and Geological Journal.
I am working as Associate Editor of Kashmir Journal of Geology, Institute of Geology, UAJ&K, Muzaffarabad. I am acting as reviewer/external evaluator for different recognized journals and Universities.

DR. MOHIBULLAH KHAN

Dr. Mohibullah Khan

Dr. Mohibullah is currently serving as Tenured Associate Professor in the Department of Geology, University of Balochistan, Quetta. He did his PhD from the Department of Geology, University of Leicester, UK. He is actively involved in research of various fields of geosciences, with a particular interest in marine micro-benthic arthropods (ostracods) of the Early Palaeozoic, Cretaceous-Tertiary Foraminifera, and marine depositional environments. Currently he is working on the foraminiferal fauna and depositional settings of the Indus and Pishin basins of Pakistan. So far, he has published more than twenty-five research papers in peer-reviewed research journals and has supervised more than 10 MS/MPhil research scholars.

Ms. Maryam Khan

Ms. Maryam khan is working as Chemist (BPS-17) in Geoscience Advance Research Laboratory, Geological Survey of Pakistan since 2017. Previously, she had been working as Assistant Manager in Multinational Organization named: Lafarge Pakistan.
She is having hand on experience on various Inorganic and Analytical Instruments. She had done her Masters in Inorganic/Analytical chemistry and, Mphil in Environmental sciences from Quaid-i-Azam University, Islamabad. Moreover, she has also been awarded with Role of Honor in her graduation from University of Punjab. Her Academic and Research interests include, Environment and Chemistry based research work.

Mr. Mudassar Awan

Mr. Mudassar Awan is working as an Assistant Geophysicist in Geological Survey of Pakistan having 8 years of professional experience in the field of geophysics. He is a Ph.D. Geophysics scholar at Quaid-e-Azam University, Islamabad.
In addition to his technical portfolio he is working as Assistant Director, (Planning and Information) directorate, and Assistant Director, Human Resource Development Center (HRDC), Geological Survey of Pakistan.
Before joining GSP he worked as Lecturer of Geophysics and Assistant Director, Quality Enhancement Cell (QEC) in Bacha Khan University Charsadda, Khyber Pakhtoonkhwa and Internee Geophysicist in Oil and Gas Development Company Limited (OGDCL) and South Asia Geophysical Services (SAGEO) a subsidiary of China National Petroleum Corporation (CNPC).

Mr. Awais Ahmed is Assistant Director in Geoscience Advanced Research Laboratory (GARL), Geological Survey of Pakistan (GSP).
He Received his M.Phil Degree from institute of Geology, University of the Punjab. He is working in GIS lab and Data Bank of GSP.
Moreover, he has working experience on XRD and GNSS. His Academic and Research interests include Geological Mapping, Geo-Hazard Studies and Engineering Geology.
